What is urology?

Urology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the functions, diseases, and care of the urinary/genital tract in men and the urinary tract in women.

Central Maryland Urology board-certified physicians/urologic surgeons provide the following urologic evaluation and management:

• Ureteroscopy and percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for kidney stones

• "Gold Marker" placement prior to radiation therapy for prostate cancer
• High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for the treatment of prostate cancer
• Laparoscopy for the treatment of kidney cancer
• Transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT) for the treatment of bladder cancer
• Urodynamic evaluation for urinary symptoms and incontinence - all studies are performed with real-time instantaneous interpretation by a physician
• Interstim for male and female incontinence
• Minimally invasive treatment for female incontinence: urethral slings
• Minimally invasive treatment for pelvic organ prolapse
• Minimally Invasive therapy for enlarged prostate (BPH): (TUNA)
