In an effort to serve our patients as efficiently as possible, we have elected to use a remote telephone service that takes your information and sends it directly to our office via a secure website. This allows us to answer calls much more quickly and eliminates the unfortunate necessity of placing callers on hold. Depending on the nature of your call or if your physician is in surgery or involved in one of the many emergency situations that can occur throughout the day, it may be necessary for another doctor in the practice to field your call. We appreciate your cooperation and patience on these occasions. All calls that come into the office are reviewed by administrative staff. A physician or a member of our nursing staff is often consulted in order to ensure that all calls are handled properly. If your call is regarding an appointment or a similarly straightforward matter, any member of our clerical staff can assist you. However, if your call is of a more complex nature, we ask that you speak with the same staff member each time you call. This will provide continuity of care and help avoid further explanation on your part with multiple staff members. We make every effort to answer calls promptly. However, there are times when matters of a serious nature occur unexpectedly and must be given priority. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
If your call is regarding a medical situation that requires immediate attention, please go to the nearest emergency room. The ER can contact your urologist to assist you with any urgent medical condition.
Our clerical staff will be more than happy to make an appointment either in person or via telephone. Please allow enough lead time when you call to schedule your appointment so that we may offer you a date and time that suits your needs. The person assisting with scheduling your appointment will ask you several questions including your name and address, primary care physician, medical condition and health insurance in order to complete your appointment. Please have your insurance information available to expedite the process. In some circumstances, particularly with surgery patients, our scheduler will contact you regarding your appointment. Typically, we are coordinating hospital or surgery center schedules as well as both patient and physician availability. This may result in a delay in returning your phone call. We appreciate your understanding. Insurance benefits for all patients are verified prior office visits so that we can be aware of the services covered by your insurance.
